Explore the colorful and diverse artistic landscape of Berlin's art gallery scene on this walking tour. Ever since the fall of the Berlin Wall in 1989, the city has attracted artists and art lovers from all over the world. Art can be found in private displays in secret basements as well as more formal and modern institutions.
Your tour will start in Mitte, on Auguststraße, considered one of the most important centers of Berlin's galleries. Here you'll see the Kunst Werke, a modern establishment with mixed media presentations, giant displays, and everything in between. Alongside the grand spectacle of the Kunst Werke, your tour will take you through more intimate galleries along the Auguststraße as well as the Linienstraße, including the Eigen+Art and ifa-Galerie. The tour will continue on through the Berliner subway to Potsdamer Strauße, which has seen rapid growth over the years thanks to the large number of gallery owners who have moved there.
An honest gallery mile contains approximately thirty galleries and project spaces across a less refined area. Your tour will take you to the available exhibits of renowned galleries such as Esther Schipper, Isabella Bortolozzi, Gitti Nourbakhsch, Guido Baudach, Arndt, Plan B, Tanya Leighton, and Klosterfelde (to name a few). Your tour will be an unforgettable dive into Berlin's contemporary art scene.
