Overnight adventure to Sur and the Turtle Reserve from Muscat

Oman was for a long time largely unpopular as a touristic destination but has for some years grown to become a new competitor in the Arab world. With a rich heritage, ancient history and beautiful monuments, Oman has a lot to offer. Its natural beauty is spectacular and will probably leave you breathless. After exploring Muscat for a while, how about leaving the city to discover Oman's countryside, its famous mountains, also called the Hajar Mountains, the wide desert plains and the colourful souks of the castal town of Sur. If you're looking for some real Arabian authenticity, this 2-day adventure to the countryside is definitely for you. One feature that makes this tour particularly interesting is that you will have the exclusive and unique opportunity to visit a turtle reserve and to observe these rare animals in their natural habitat.

Day 1: On the morning of the first day, you will start your tour by travelling through the Hajar Mountains to the township of Sur, a coastal city where the famous wooden traditional Dhows are being built. You will pass by the village of Quriyat. On arrival in Sur, you will have the opportunity to do a tour of the city, to visit the Bilad castle, and will have lunch in the city before heading to the city of Ras Al hadd, home of the turtles in Oman. Check in the hotel and have dinner afterwards, before heading to the Turtle reserve to observe the turtles in the middle of the night.

Day 2: Next morning after an enjoyable breakfast we will enjoy the surrounding before we start our route back to Muscat. Pique nique lunch in Wadi Shab . we will also pass by the beautiful Finn’s Beach and Bimah Sinkhole, a spectacular limestone crater with blue green water at the bottom before arriving to Muscat in the afternoon.
