Observatory Tour: Chilean Sky by Night

Admire the beauty and tranquility of the night sky as it wakes up when the sunsets. The Chilean sky is well known for its crystal clear clarity at night and is a great way to see the stars, the moon, numerous constellations and just appreciate the beauty of the universe.

This night tour will take you to a private observatory, which is located in the Andes and is about a 40 minute drive from Santiago. As you make your way to the observatory your guide will start to give you an introduction about the night sky an things you might be able to see from the observatory.

Upon arriving at the observatory you will be warmly received by your hosts. You will then make your way around the observatory with an experienced astronomer who will give a fascinating presentation about the planets, stars and the universe in general. You will first observe the beautiful Chilean night sky with a naked eye, then you will make your way to simple telescopes and then ending with a high-tech, high powered telescope that are used in the observatory. After enjoying the up close view of the night sky you will go to a refreshment area where there will be wine, cheese and other goodies served. This is a great time to share you experiences and impressions with the other guests on the tour and to ask any questions you might have!
